26 th Annual Asheville Quilt Show 2008 August 1 - 3 2008 Theme: Piece for Peace Presented by the Asheville Quilt Guild Thoughts from Show Chair: Yolanda Hall The 2008 Quilt Show theme is Piece for Peace. My theme is a bit puzzling, even for me. But, when I think of quilters and the unselfish giving of quilts for all causes, I can't help but think that peace will result from this generosity. A gift of a quilt expects no return. Think about the words, piece and peace. Piece is defined as an individual entity or a piece of luck. As you piece a community quilt, think how it will bring peace to the receiver. Peace is defined as a state of tranquility or order of harmony. Think about how your piecing will wrap someone in the warmth and love of a quilt. You don't know the receiver and they don't know you, but your gift is what brings the message of love and peace. You can think about giving someone a piece of your mind or falling to pieces! You can enjoy a piece of pie. You can be at peace when sharing something or some task with someone; reading a good book; sitting in front of the fire letting your mind wander or enjoying the beauty of the world around us. There is always the dove and the peace sign. I look forward to seeing your theme quilts for the 2008 show.
