AQG History
The Guild started in 1988 when the organizers of Asheville's terrific
street fair, Bele Chere, asked a group of local quilters to organize
a quilt show for the fair. This "seed group" thought it was high time
a local Guild got going, and the Asheville Quilt Guild was born with a
charter membership of 60.
Charter member, Tresner Award winner and the Guild's first President, Barbara Swinea, is building
a history of the guild. It appears in the disPatch
newsletter in installments and an abridged version is viewable at this link:

AQG Dorothy Tresner Award Recipients
The award was established in 1992 and named for its first recipient.
This award is presented each year at the December meeting to an
Asheville Quilt Guild member for long-term commitment and devotion
